As a proud partner with the organizers of these events, the Coast Guard Foundation staff is holding a 2-mile long walk. Along the way, we've memorialized the heroes of the Coast Guard who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty with sign posts and flags.

April is the month of the military child, where we take time to recognize the experiences and life of the kids of our military members. Here at the Coast Guard Foundation, we truly believe that a happy and healthy service member makes for a strong and dedicated service member.
By providing support for the Coast Guard family we can provide a continuum of support across the board. While a Coast Guard member is deployed and fulfilling his or her duty, they are comforted and inspired by the care and appreciation paid to their families.

The National Coast Guard Museum Association, along with the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, and Connecticut's political leaders revealed today the location and conceptual designs of a national museum to be situated on the waterfront in New London, Connecticut.

Sadly, the Coast Guard was struck by the loss of four members last year, when the helicopter crew of CG-6535 went down in Mobile Bay, Alabama. Since the day of this tragedy, the Coast Guard Foundation has been supporting the families, and members of the Coast Guard community, affected by the crash.
In the year since the tragedy, the Foundation raised more than $63,000 for a permanent memorial at Aviation Training Center Mobile, pictured at left, which was dedicated on March 1, 2013. The devastation of losing a loved one cannot be measured, but the Coast Guard Foundation makes every effort to comfort families and Coast Guard personnel affected during these trying times.

Friday, March 15 was a banner day for Coast Guard families at Base Portsmouth in Virginia, where the Coast Guard Foundation dedicated a brand new playground.
Foundation President Anne Brengle was joined by Captain Joel Dolbech, commanding officer of Base Portsmouth, RADM Stephen Ratti, commander of the 5th Coast Guard District, and RADM Richard T. Gromlich, director of operational logistics, to officially dedicate the playground.

The Coast Guard Foundation is proud to announce a partnership with another military-serving nonprofit, E-books For Troops, which provides new and gently used e-readers such as Amazon Kindles to troops fighting overseas.
E-Books for Troops, a 501(c)3 charity, recently donated 20 Kindles, with accessories, to Coast Guard units who are currently serving in Bahrain. The Coast Guard Foundation provided Amazon gift cards to go along with the Kindles, so the e-readers could be pre-loaded with materials before delivering them to the units in the field.

The U.S. Coast Guard Tuesday dedicated the staff barracks at Training Center Cape May, New Jersey in memory of Petty Officer Nathan Bruckenthal, who was killed in action during the Iraq War in 2004.
The Coast Guard Foundation provided funding for the memorial, which included renaming the barracks Bruckenthal Hall, as well as an exhibit in the entryway honoring Bruckenthal's service to his country.

Stanley and Karen Hubbard attended the commissioning of the Robert C. Yered, the Coast Guard’s newest Sentinel class fast response cutter, last Friday, February 15 in Miami. After the ship was officially commissioned into service, the Hubbards met with crew members to tour the new asset and learn more about the work the crew would perform once officially underway.
