It's with great sadness that we relay the news of the passing of K. Erik Baur, a long-time Coast Guard Foundation Trustee, who passed away at his home in Costa Mesa, California last month. Mr. Baur, who was born in 1917 in Gothenburg, Sweden, spent 17 years on the Foundation's board and helped strengthen our presence on the West Coast.
Erik joined the board in 1988 and served with distinction through 1995, when the Board voted to confer him emeritus status. While on the board, he served as a vice-president on the executive committee, and worked closely with directors on the construction of the Seamanship Sailing Center at the Coast Guard Academy.
He was an active supporter of the Foundation in many areas, including the Pacific Area Awards Dinner, the Southern California Golf Tournament, as well as other dinner events around the country and the annual fund.
Erik will be missed. You can read his full obituary here.
