Supporting Families in the Wake of the CG-6535 Crash

The Coast Guard Foundation is supporting the families affected by the crash of CG-6535 in Mobile, Alabama on the night of Feb. 28. All four crew members perished in the crash. Please join us in offering our deepest sympathies to the families impacted by this incident. The Coast Guard Foundation raised funds to pay for the memorial service for the crew, which was held on March 8 in Mobile.

The Coast Guard identified the crew members as: Chief Petty Officer Fernando Jorge; Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew Knight; Lt. j.g. Thomas Cameron; and LCDR Dale Taylor.

LCDR Taylor is from Snow Hill, North Carolina. Lt. j.g. Cameron is from Portland, OR and was a 2009 Coast Guard Academy graduate and former captain of the Academy's soccer team. CPO Jorge is from Cypress, California. AET3 Knight is from Thomasville, Alabama.

  1. My heart is breaking for the missing crew and the one member so far confirmed perished. My son is at Air Station Cap Cod in the airman program and is quickly becoming a part of this tight group of Coast Guardsmen. I am heavily involved in USCG Moms FB page and have made lifelong friendships with all of these women. I can't imagine my life without the tight knit Coast Guard family. My deepest condolences and prayers to all involved. They are someone's children and someone's family. God Bless the USCG.
  2. I live in Mobile and have a son in the USCG so this tragedy hits so close to home. Sending condolence to the family of our fallen Coast Guard member and prayers for the 3 missing and their families -- that they will be found safe.

  8. My heart and prayers go out to the families dealing with this tragic accident. I cannot imagine the pain but I know you are not alone. As a mother of a U.S. Coast Guardsman I understand the worry. With great pride we send our children out to become the best they can be. That they join the USCG and do as they are asked speaks volumes. Find strength in knowing there is so much support and so many prayers for you and find peace in knowing there is much love for you at this difficult time.

  10. So saddened over the horrific tragedy and loss due to the crash of CG-6535 in Mobile, Alabama. My prayers go out to all those affected by this scenario. I am a USCG Mom with two sons actively serving. I have never found a more dynamic, unbreakable, supportive, loving, bond then those I have formed, within the USCG family. Those serving, are all our HERO's, and we love, respect, and honor them. Semper Paratus God Bless the USCG!!

We share a love for those who serve and those who have served.   12. The USCG has been a part of my life for 30 years, my son is now serving and I am very proud of him. Every time any tragedy strikes the Coast Guard its like a family coming together to be strong for each other, I pray for the families directly involved, I hope they know how much we care about what they are going through. God Bless them and keep them close at this time.

  15. I am a wife of a CG Rescue Swimmer and this tragedy makes me so sad! I can only imagine the heartache and pain this is causing the families, I send them my deepest condolences. God bless the UCSG.
  16. My heart is torn, my prayers are with my shipmates and their families. We in the coastguard have so much unity do to us being such a small branch, we tend to meet alot of each other. When something tragic like this happens, all of us feel the pain ..... your in my thoughts semper paratus
