Coast Guard Foundation Trustee Donates $35,000 in Honor of CG-6535

Angus R. Cooper, a Coast Guard Foundation trustee, contributed $35,000 to the Family Disaster Relief Fund through a special promotion at his Mobile-area restaurants following the tragedy of the crash of CG-6535 in Mobile, Alabama earlier this year.

During a weekend in late March, the restaurants donated 10% of the total proceeds to the Coast Guard Foundation. Mr. Cooper matched the total raised from the restaurant deal, resulting in a $35,000 donation to the fund that supports families following a catastrophe such as the one in Mobile.

To show his support of the service, the Cooper Restaurant group also offered at 40% discount to active duty Coast Guard members and their families during the promotion period.

"Mr. Cooper's efforts to support Coast Guard families who are going through unspeakable tragedy should be lauded," said Coast Guard Foundation President Anne B. Brengle. "As a Foundation trustee, Mr. Cooper has had a direct impact on the lives of many brave Coast Guard members and their families, and we thank him for that."
