Cleveland Comes Together for a Run to Remember
Cleveland-area Coast Guard members participated in a Coast Guard Foundation Run to Remember event on June 26, bringing together 100 people from across the Great Lakes region for a day of community and remembrance.
Members representing Coast Guard Cutters Neah Bay and Morro Bay, Station Cleveland and Marine Safety Unit Cleveland, among other local units, participated.
The event came together through the combined efforts of the Chief Warrant Officers Association Great Lakes Chapter, North Coast Chief Petty Officers Association, and the Coast Guard Enlisted Association Rock and Roll Branch, with Base Cleveland and the Great Lakes District providing command support throughout the day.
"We appreciate the outstanding support that makes this possible for Coast Guard members and their families here in the Great Lakes," said CWO Brian Hall, USCG (Ret.), President of the CWOA Great Lakes Chapter.
"We are grateful to the runners, volunteers, and organizers who made the Cleveland Run to Remember possible," said Sage Williams, Director of Family Assistance Programs. “The tragedy assistance program is here for Coast Guard families during their most difficult moments, and it exists because of community support like what we saw in Cleveland."
Next stop -- Detroit.
The CWOA Great Lakes Chapter is next organizing a Coast Guard Foundation Run to Remember for August 21 at Sector Detroit, in memory of AST2 Tyler Jaggers and all fallen Coast Guard members.
