Coast Guard Foundation hurricane relief update, matching gift opportunity
A Message from Coast Guard Foundation President, Susan P. Ludwig
Over the last few weeks, I have been working closely with the Coast Guard to assess the immediate needs of our Coast Guard members and their families impacted by Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and now Maria.
I’m proud to report that our Disaster Relief and Response Fund has already rushed $275,000 in support to help the Coast Guard families who are suffering the most. But the need is still great, and we are receiving new requests for assistance every day.
To help, generous Coast Guard Foundation supporters Doug and Carolyn Comrie have agreed to match every gift we receive online - up to $50,000 - to assist the Coast Guard Foundation Disaster Relief and Response Fund. To help us get this support to families as soon as possible, the match will apply for donations received between September 22 and October 6.
I would like to thank both Doug and Carolyn for their extraordinary support of the Coast Guard Foundation. Year after year, the Comries have provided direct support to our Coasties with their most critical needs.
Please, your gift now to our Disaster Relief and Response Fund will make a huge impact in the lives of these brave men and women and their families. Thank you to the Comries, and all our donors for enabling the Coast Guard Foundation to rescue the rescuers with support where it’s needed most.
Semper Paratus,
Susan P. Ludwig
