Coast Guard Prepares to Respond to Hurricane Isaias, We're Ready to Support Families
Hurricane Isaias is making landfall along the Northern Gulf Coast, and the U.S. Coast Guard is executing emergency response protocols to save lives and protect critical infrastructure. Coast Guard rescue aircraft, boats, and personnel are positioned strategically to respond as soon as conditions allow - ready to rush into danger while their own families face uncertainty about their homes and safety.
The Coast Guard Serves While Their Families Sacrifice
Unlike other military branches with dedicated base housing, most Coast Guard members live directly in the communities they serve. This means when hurricanes strike the Southeast U.S or Gulf Coast, the same men and women conducting rescue operations often have families in the direct path of the storm. Their homes, neighborhoods, and property are threatened by the same disaster they're working to contain.
As the Coast Guard focuses on rescue, port security, and hazardous material cleanup - critical missions that protect lives and our nation - their families need support to weather the immediate crisis.
We Rescue the Rescuers
The Coast Guard Foundation's Disaster Relief and Response Program is activated and ready. We provide:
- Immediate relief for emergency housing, transportation, and essential supplies
- Flexible grants up to $3,000 to offset insurance deductibles for home and auto repairs and other needs
- Support for families facing sudden hardship while their Coast Guard members serve
Your gift ensures that Coast Guard families have the resources and stability they need - allowing their loved ones to focus entirely on their life-saving missions.
How Your Support Makes a Real Difference
- $250 restocks a fridge after power loss — A fridge restocked. A basic need met.
- $500 provides emergency lodging when families must evacuate — A roof overhead when home is no longer safe.
- $1,000 repairs or replaces damaged household goods — Restoring comfort, piece by piece.
- $2,000 offsets property damage cleanup and repairs — Clearing the debris, restoring what storms left behind.
- $3,000 provides a full emergency grant toward recovery — Helping a family take the first big step toward recovery.
