NYC Maritime Community to Honor Coast Guard and Dr. James S.C. Chao at Chelsea Piers
The Coast Guard Foundation will host New York Salutes the Coast Guard on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, recognizing Coast Guard members serving across the Northeast United States.
Honoring Heroism at Sea
- The crew of Coast Guard Cutter William Chadwick (WPC-1150) will receive a special Coast Guard Foundation award for heroism.
- The award recognizes the crew’s rescue of six mariners from the fishing vessel Three Girls after it caught fire in rough seas 120 nautical miles east of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on August 11, 2024.
Recognizing Maritime Leadership
• The Foundation will honor Dr. James S.C. Chao, founder and chairman of the Foremost Group, for his maritime leadership, his commitment to American prosperity, and his enduring support of education.
• Dr. Chao will be accompanied by family and friends for what promises to be a touching and inspirational evening.
Distinguished attendees
Since 1983, New York Salutes the Coast Guard has brought together industry leaders, government officials, and Coast Guard members to celebrate the Service’s missions and heroism. The Coast Guard’s top national and regional leaders are scheduled to attend, including:
- Acting Commandant of the Coast Guard Adm. Kevin Lunday
- Rear Adm. Michael Platt, commander of Coast Guard operations in the Northeast
- Capt. Jonathon Andrechik, Captain of the Port of New York/New Jersey
- Local Coast Guard personnel will also be in attendance.
