Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley Crew to be Honored at Anchorage Event
This anticipated event will bring together key figures, including industry leaders, Alaskan Coast Guard supporters, members of Congress, and government officials, to recognize the significant missions and heroism of U.S. Coast Guard personnel in Alaska, often referred to as our Nation’s Last Frontier.
A highlight of the evening will be a special award presented to the crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley. This prestigious honor recognizes their exceptional service within the Coast Guard’s 17th District, which oversees all missions and activities in Alaska. For a remarkable second consecutive year, the crew has been awarded the Coast Guard's esteemed "Cutter of the Year" title for 2024. Their outstanding contributions to maritime safety, security, and environmental stewardship include vital fisheries enforcement patrols, successful search and rescue operations, and ensuring safe navigation in challenging Arctic waters.
The event includes a reception and dinner, starting at 6 p.m.
Acting Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Kevin Lunday and other Coast Guard leaders will attend the event. Admiral Lunday is pending Senate confirmation to serve as the Coast Guard’s 28th Commandant.
