Fish With Football Greats and Champion Anglers: Join SFC’s The Catch, Powered by Verizon
Produced by the Sport Fishing Championship (SFC), a competitive sportfishing league representing 16 regions competing internationally across North America, The Catch pairs past and present NFL stars with its professional angling clubs and VIPs in a pro-am sailfish tournament.
Taking place April 11-13, 2025, at Pier Sixty-Six Resort & Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Coast Guard Foundation supporters can purchase VIP competition packages to fish alongside both the NFL and SFC pros.
In addition to vying for The Catch title, participants compete for the honor of presenting a $100,000 donation check to the Coast Guard Foundation. That honor last year went to Rising Son's/Team Verizon, led by SFC angler Jaselyn Berthelot and NFL superstars Alvin Kamara and Raheem Mostert. The 2024 donation was generously provided by Shane Guidry and Harvey Gulf International. The 2025 donor will be announced in the coming weeks.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston returns as celebrity guest host, while Kamara and Mostert headline the list of more than 15 NFL stars confirmed to join. Some of those current and former players include James Cook, Ed and Luke McCaffery, Bryant McKinnie, Vernon Davis, Jeffery Simmons, and Michael Pittman Jr.
“This marks our third year as the charity partner for The Catch, and it is always such an honor to join forces with the best football players and anglers in the country,” said Coast Guard Foundation President Susan Ludwig. “Coast Guard members represent the pinnacle of service at sea, defending our national interests and borders, protecting the maritime sector that contributes trillions to the U.S. economy, saving those in peril at sea, and protecting our marine resources. It excites us to have a growing partner in SFC and we look forward to more opportunities to work together.”
The Catch sets the stage for the 2025 SFC season, which culminates with the inaugural Zane Grey Championship Playoffs that features the top 8 angling clubs competing in a three-day, win-and-advance playoff format. The full season schedule can be found at www.sportfishingchampionship.com.
The SFC series includes established fishing tournaments throughout the East and Gulf Coasts. With a focus on growing the sport and engaging fans through innovation, organizers work to support the local economies of historic fishing towns while educating the next generation of anglers in the areas of marine science and environmentally responsible angling.
