The Coast Guard Foundation’s Pacific Northwest Awards Dinner will take place on May 8, 2025, at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront, celebrating the service and bravery of U.S. Coast Guard members in Washington State and Oregon.

The Coast Guard Pacific Northwest Awards Dinner brings together Coast Guard leaders, maritime industry professionals, and community supporters to recognize service members' critical roles in maritime safety, search and rescue, environmental protection, and national security. The Coast Guard first established its presence in the Pacific Northwest with the construction and operation of 16 lighthouses along the coast built between 1852 and 1858. The presence was reaffirmed in 1854 with the stationing of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Jefferson Davis in Puget Sound. Today, the Coast Guard's regional headquarters is located in Seattle with two sector offices managing operations in their respective areas.

Among those honored will be the Bellingham Coast Guard rescue crew who saved a family of five in treacherous conditions near Lummi Island, Washington.

In June 2024, a family of four adults, one child, and a small dog were kayaking when three- to five-foot waves swamped their vessels, throwing them into the sea. Stranded and facing hypothermia in Washington’s cold waters, they activated an SOS signal using a Garmin inReach device, which immediately alerted Coast Guard Station Bellingham.

Within an hour, the Coast Guard search and rescue team arrived, quickly pulling the five kayakers and their dog from the water and bringing them to safety. Their swift response prevented a tragedy and demonstrated the Coast Guard’s expertise in life-saving operations.
