Emergency and Disaster Relief
When natural disasters strike, Coast Guard members are often called to serve others even as their own families may be facing loss, displacement, or damage at home. The Coast Guard Foundation provides emergency and disaster relief to help members and their loved ones navigate these difficult moments with immediate, practical support.
Relief grants help families recover from floods, wildfires, hurricanes, and other emergencies that disrupt daily life and create sudden financial strain. This assistance can help cover urgent needs in the aftermath of a disaster, giving families greater stability while they work to recover and rebuild.
In recent years, the Foundation has supported Coast Guard families affected by devastating flooding in the Pacific Northwest, repeated flooding in Juneau, Alaska, and wildfires in California. In 2025 alone, the Foundation distributed $40,000 in emergency disaster relief through 17 grants to Coast Guard members and families whose homes were damaged or destroyed.
By responding quickly in times of crisis, the Coast Guard Foundation helps ensure Coast Guard families have the resources they need to move forward — and gives members peace of mind while they continue to serve.
